Kids’ Classes
Basic: For all belt levels. Beginners learn basic techniques and work toward more advanced belts, while non-beginners perfect basic techniques, review their beginning forms and get a workout.
Black Belt Training (BBT): Intermediate-level classes designed to fast-track highly motivated students. The goal is to earn a Poom Belt (a Black Belt for kids under 15) in four years. Open to green belts and higher, or by invitation. Advanced students may also attend these classes to perfect their intermediate-level techniques. Sparring is first taught in these classes.
Poom: Advanced classes for Poom Belts. Advanced techniques and forms are taught. At the Poom Belt level, kids learn to use the long sword and basic wrist locks, sweeps, and other close quarter combat techniques.
Elite Competition Class: For kids wishing to compete in tournaments. East Side Tae Kwon Do competes in a number of local and national tournaments. This class prepares kids to compete in forms, breaking and sparring.
Adult Classes
Open: Taught the traditional way. All students take the same class. Everyone warms up and stretches together, and then students work on the techniques appropriate to their individual belt levels.
